During the Depression era, ingredients were stretched, shared, and never wasted—fruit cocktail became more than just a pantry staple… it became a way to create something sweet in hard times.
These soft, fruit-studded cookies carry that same spirit—simple, resourceful, and made with care.
But I added a little something of my own…
Each one is finished with a smooth maple buttercream, gently kissed with strawberry and cherry, bringing a soft sweetness that wasn’t always possible back then—but is now.
Because even in the hardest times… there’s always room to sweeten things just a little.
